When the world jumps to the gym & raids vegetable stands, you know it's the start of a new year. Resolutions come and go, but even with the best-laid plans (I mean there was an snow/ice storm in Savannah, who could have predicted that?) goals can end up feeling like failures before February. I mean, hello, this post about new year's was suppose to be closer to the beginning of the month [sigh]. This week at the shop we discussed our resolutions and surprisingly we had a lot of the same ideas and hopes. Be nicer... be more patient.... don't be rushed or overextend... take the time to get ready in the mornings so we look &, more importantly, feel our best...etc. While these are ideals we hope and strive for, we can't expect a drastic change over night. So instead of focusing on our imperfections or slip-ups, the conversation ended up in a discussion about how much growth & understanding we could see in ourselves over the past few years. While we still may set goals & it feels good to hit that "refresh" button for 2018... we're going to try to remember we are all works in progress. Reflecting on our life lessons and how far we've come deserves appreciate too, strive to improve... but not for perfection.
One of my favorite reads in a long time. Warning: will need tissue.
