OUR STORY

It all started with Barbies. Growing up, my sister and I loved our mother’s vintage Barbie dolls with their outfits for dedicated events and quality fabrics. We were also blessed to be surrounded by an influential mix of strong and stylish Southern women — including Aunt Ruth with her cotillion gowns for dress-up and Aunt Shirley with her legendary chocolate cake — who taught us that we could be anything we wanted to be. I opened the shop in 2016 and named it Midge after Barbie’s best friend from the 1960s as a nostalgic nod to the past with a sunny step into the future.

Known for jeans and T-shirts, Midge is a women’s clothing shop with a classic approach to modern style — curating closet staples that not only complement you, but your lifestyle. Our clothing and accessories can take you from elevated casual to “dolled-up” evening.

Midge exclusively sells merchandise made in the United States. We love supporting other small businesses that help our economy and create jobs that also meet important environmental and ethical labor standards. In doing so, we give independent brands — alongside larger national manufacturers that deliver American-made quality — a platform and outlet.

Midge Owner, Margaret Stanley, graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in History. Unofficially, she majored in Game-Day Dresses & Sorority Rush Must-Haves. A member of the DAR and an advocate for sustainability, she collects etiquette books, handkerchiefs, and vinyl records and finds inspiration in all things vintage and Harper's Bazaar.
